Meet Win Deal
I want you to know me before you receive your ballot in the mail or enter the voting booth on election day. You deserve nothing less.
As you will see from my brief bio, I have gained and extraordinary perspective on life, social issues, government, and politics…a perspective one can only gain by having an extremely diverse accumulation of life experiences.
I was born and raised by a family of educators on the East Coast…North Carolina and Florida. My dad was the assistant superintendent of Broward County Florida Schools and my mom and sister were teachers.
However, when I completed my service to the country in the US Air Force as an Air Force Captain and Navigator on a B52 bomber, I chose to live and build my career and family in Aurora and Arapahoe County. That was over forty years ago.
The life lessons I learned growing up and excelling at academic and athletic pursuits in High School and at Duke University—BA History—remain fundamental to my thinking, acting, and decision making today. One historically significant quote molded my thinking about politics and government…
“The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled…”
This is not a quote from modern day America. This quote is attributed to Marcus Tillius Cicero—55 BCE. It may not apply directly to the job of an Arapahoe County Commissioner, but it illustrates my perspective that government is meant to serve the citizens…not vice versa.
Moreover, I have not allowed my perspective on life, leadership, social issues, politics, and government to be narrowed by limiting my career to a single profession for my entire lifetime.
In high school and while at Duke I was an activist and change agent, a catalyst in fact…
- Top 10% of my high school class and active in athletics
- Captain and President of the Duke Rugby Club
- Member, Old Trinity Leadership at Duke
- Leadership – Phi Kappa Sigma
- Squadron Commander, US Air Force ROTC
- Vietnam – I flew over 50 combat missions and logged over 1,500 hours as a navigator and learned what it means to lead and still be a part of the team
- MBA – Management, Central Michigan University
My post-military service working career started as an employee of Gates Rubber for just about a year. I then moved on to owning and managing four Bernina Sewing Chalet stores with fifteen employees. After four successful years, I sold that business and spent the next ten years as a retail loan broker and property manager where I deepened my business and executive decision-making skills.
In 1992 I discovered a passion for helping others succeed and since then have helped over 1,700 displaced executives find their way in the sometimes-diabolical world of career transitions. In the process, these executives have helped me broaden and deepen my perspective with their wisdom and experience, which they generously passed on to me.
Today, I hope to repay the gifts I have received in my lifetime by sharing my perspective with and serving the people of Arapahoe County as their District 4 County Commissioner.
I want your vote.
If there is anything you need from me to secure that vote be sure to let me know. I will do my best to deliver.
